English translation

Goodbye poor, goodbye poor,
farewell poor Carnival.
You leave and I return.
Farewell poor Carnival.

Farewell to your beautiful youth. Come on, you’ve had your fun. You’ve squandered your wealth, now you will regret it.

If it is true that you made feast, that you danced in palaces, stayed naked on the straw, and stuffed with hay like a donkey.

Refrain

Tchi ri tchi tchi tchitchi tchitchi
Listen well, mayor Jean-Claude,
tchi ri tchi tchi tchitchi tchitchi
listen well to what I say.

Farewell, you who used to take it easy, you who saw yourself adulated. Farewell to the money you were throwing out the window, now the wheel has turned.

You have to change your lifestyle, and if you don’t want to suffer, to punish you for your crimes, vermin, we will finish you off!

Refrain + Tchi ri tchi tchi

Goodbye old perverse father, Lent has arrived. It is the day of the justice. Farewell to you who will die.

All the people greet you, returns to him, and you, you go away. Your last hour has come. Farewell poor Carnival.

Refrain + Tchi ri tchi tchi
