Text by Berthold Brecht 1934, music by Hanns Eisler. The text recalls the Paris Commune. The Paris Commune is the name given to the revolutionary Paris City Council spontaneously formed during the Franco-Prussian War from March 18, 1871 to May 28, 1871, which attempted to administer Paris according to socialist ideas against the will of the conservative central government. Its members are called communards*. The Paris Commune is considered a model of council democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
